Yes, you are welcome to bring well-behaved dogs on our punting tours, however, dogs are not allowed on our walking tours due to regulations from the college grounds we enter.

When booking a large group (40+ people) email us at info@alumni.tours and we will prepare a specialised quotation for your booking.

Punting can be enjoyed all year round and is a wonderful experience in every season. The punts have umbrellas and blankets available to ensure you remain comfortable, whatever the weather conditions!

We advise you to dress for the weather, however, we may cancel the tour if we deem the tour to be unsafe. In this instance, you will have the option to rebook or receive a credit to book on another occasion.
Cancellations and refunds are at the discretion of Alumni Tours for bad weather. All of our tours will continue even in wet weather unless deemed too severe to safely operate.
Punting tours will condition unless river conditions are determined to be too hazardous. The punts have umbrellas and blankets available to ensure your comfort, whatever the weather!

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to check-in.

We do not offer refunds if you are late. You must give yourself enough time to get to the meeting point. If you realise you are running late prior to the start of the tour, please get in touch and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do!

Walking tours: 25 people per guide
Punting tours: 12 people per guide in Cambridge & 4 people in Oxford

Our tours are based outside and do not guarantee any entry to colleges unless a relevant add-on is purchased. The exception to this is the Harry Potter tour, which will include entry to New College (and Divinity School when available).
For Cambridge tours, you have the option to upgrade to a King’s College Chapel ticket option to add entry after your walking tour.
In Oxford, our walking tour may include entry to The Divinity School or a college where available, but this is not guaranteed.
If you’re keen to visit a specific college, please get in touch to book a private tour. For these, with advance notice, we can arrange entry to the majority of colleges in both Cambridge and Oxford, depending on college opening times.

We recommend using the facilities of a local cafe next to our meeting point. There will not be the opportunity to have a toilet break during the tour itself.

Your confirmation email received upon making your booking will contain details of the meeting location. Our guide will be wearing an item of blue uniform with the Alumni Tours crest on; feel free to approach anyone in this uniform and ask for assistance!
For Cambridge walking tours, the meeting point is King’s Chapel entrance on King’s Parade. Punting in Cambridge departs from Scudamore’s Mill Lane punting station. Private walking tours can be adjusted to meet elsewhere in the vicinity – please get in touch if you wish to arrange this.
For Oxford walking and Harry Potter tours, the meeting point is 11-12 Broad Street, by the red pillar post box. Nearby shops to look out for include Theo’s Cafe and Oxford Campus Stores. Punting in Oxford departs from Magdalen Bridge boathouse. Private walking tours can be adjusted to meet elsewhere in the vicinity – please get in touch if you wish to arrange this.

In Oxford, the recommended car parks are:

- 10 minute walk to the meeting point for walking and Harry Potter tours
- 20 minute walk to the departure point for punting tours

- 15 minute walk to the meeting point for walking and Harry Potter tours
- 5 minute walk to the departure point for punting tours

In Cambridge, you can store luggage with Campkins Cameras at 12A King’s Parade, 1 minute from the start point of the walking tours. This costs £6 per item.
In Oxford, City Spare Space has a luggage storage point in 33 George Street, 3 minutes from the start point of the walking tours for £7 per item. Alternatively, Radical Storage has various locations in the city for £5 per item. Both can be booked online.
