Full Description

Discover one of Cambridge’s most celebrated traditions in comfort on a punting tour along the River Cam, operated by Scudamore’s, the oldest punting company in the city.

Alumni Tours is a long-standing official partner of Scudamore’s, providing our guests with access to highly trained chauffeurs, dependable quality, and excellent value. Each tour is led by a skilled professional dedicated to delivering a safe, smooth, and enjoyable journey along the river. The price of the tour is per seat rather than per age, and infants who can sit on laps travel free of charge.

This experience suits everyone — families, couples, and solo travellers alike. Relax, take photographs, ask questions, and admire uninterrupted views of Cambridge’s most recognisable landmarks.

As you pass the Backs, historic college gardens, and famous bridges, your chauffeur delivers engaging live commentary, sharing stories, traditions, and insights into the University and its notable alumni. Guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments and drinks on board.

All tours depart from Mill Lane, near the Mill Pond, a central and scenic starting point on the River Cam. Whether enjoyed independently or paired with a walking tour, this punting experience provides a classic and memorable perspective of Cambridge from the water.

Itinerary

  • King’s College Chapel and the Backs – One of England’s most photographed views.
  • Clare College and the oldest Bridge on the Cam – The elegant and oldest surviving bridge on the river.
  • Kitchen Bridge and the Wren Library – Trinity College’s famous bridge, with Christopher Wren’s library standing close by.
  • St John’s College and the Bridge of Sighs – Cambridge’s own Bridge of Sighs, inspired by the one in Venice.
